It's never enough for parents is it?????

i'm soo pissed off right now.

now not only do i have to play a sport for my stupid school that i hate very much, i have to do something non-sports related.

last year, they were on my butt about playing a stupid sport... fine i did that.

this year they want me to do a sport and a non-sports related thing. wtf? it's like i do what they say and they end up telling me to do more.

are your parents like this too????

Sorry your being forced to do things that you don't feel as necessary as your parents do. Maybe they are looking at the over all picture for you that having these activities will get you a better chance at getting into the college of your choice.

I do not force my kids to play sports but they are required to be in some sort of activity. Like right now, my oldest CHOSE to play football for his jr high and is also doing band and boy scouts. He has already told me that HE DIDN"T want to play baseball in the spring and I am fine with it. I give them the options of doing something that they enjoy doing and want to do, when it becomes a chore or they really lose all interest in , I let them pick something else to do. They are not going to spend all the free time on the computer, video games and TV. They get plenty of time to do that but they need to be active too.

No....my parents *allowed* me to participate in scholastic activities and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I feel sorry for your future teammates; your poor attitude will not be conducive to a normal spirit of healthy competition.

Why is this a requirement? Is it something you need to get into the college of your choice or is it just something that your parents want you to do (because they think you should)? I don't quite get the deal. If you don't want to do it, then don't. You might have to tell them that straight out and take the wrath, but geeze! Too much pressure. However, if you can't get out of it, then just suck really bad at it so you get kicked out.
