Question:

It's now April and it's in the 30s here in Indiana. Who else is actually looking forward to Global WARMING?

I would be so happy if the Ozone layer got depleted more so it wouldn't be so cold anymore for April and the nice warm ultra-violent rays would finally heat up these freezing months of March and April for a change.

February of 1999= It was no colder than around the 50s.

March of 2000= It was in the 60s and 70s.

Nowadays= You're lucky if you get a 50-degree day in March.

  1. I'd love to se some global warming around here now, and for those who say cold spells are a sign of global warming, after I'm done laughing at you I'll ask you to turn up the temperature of your oven at home and stick your head in it until you find the cold spot.

  2. The tree huggers will be out in August when it's VERY warm, Just give it time

  3. Bring it on brother, I am sick of snow!!!

  4. Skeptic argument:

The earth has had much warmer climates in the past. What's so special about the current climate? Anyway, it seems like a generally warmer world will be better.

    Answer:

"I don't know if there is a meaningful way to define an "optimum" average temperature for planet earth. Surely it is better now for all of us than it was 20,000 years ago when so much land was trapped beneath ice sheets. Perhaps any point between the recent climate and the extreme one we may be heading for, with tropical forests inside the arctic circle, is as good as any other. Maybe it's even better with no ice caps anywhere.

It doesn't matter. The critical issue is not what the temperature is, or may be, or will be. The critical issue is how fast it is moving."

"Rapid change is the real danger. Human habits and infrastructure are suited to particular weather patterns and sea levels, as are ecosystems and animal behaviors. The rate at which global temperature is rising today is likely unique in the history of our species."

"This kind of sudden change is rare even in geological history, though perhaps not unprecedented. So the planet may have been through similar things before -- that sounds reassuring, right?"

"Not so much. Once you look at the impact similar changes had on biodiversity at the time, the existence of historical precedent becomes anything but reassuring. Rapid climate change is the prime suspect in most mass extinction events, including the Great Dying some 250 million years ago, in which 90% of all life went extinct."

    Skeptic Argument:

It was way colder than normal today in Wagga Wagga, proof that there is no global warming.

Does this even deserve an answer? If we must ...

    Answer:

"The chaotic nature of weather means that no conclusion about climate can ever be drawn from a single data point, hot or cold. The temperature of one place at one time is just weather, and says nothing about climate, much less climate change, much less global climate change."

Let's simplify that.  The IPCC only says that temperatures have risen on average globally, by 0.7C degrees or about 1.3F degrees in the last one hundred years.  You think you can feel whether that is true or not?  What did you think they were saying?  That it would be 10F degrees warmer at your house this winter?  There are places in the arctic where the temps are up over 3C degrees.  And that is enough to melt the ice cap and glaciers and have other effects.  Even the 1 degree change has consequenses which you can't feel, but are enough to make some species have to migrate or adapt, if they have that choice.  They can't evolve fast enough to adapt, so that's out.

  5. The ozone layer and global warming are 2 very different things.

Global warming is not responsible for the temperatures goes from 50s to 70s in 1 year.

I suggest you do some reading because you have got all your information screwed up.

  6. I hear you, I have to cover my tulips with buckets this weekend to keep them from freezing at night, here in mo.

last year I didn't do it & they all froze & fell flat.

how can anyone be against warming? its supposed to be the end of winter & warm in mid april, this year I guess it wont be spring until mid may just like last year.

we never had to worry about our daffodills & tulips freezing in the 60s,70s' & 80s.

now that we have so called global warming winter is 2 months longer than it used to be.

those global warming freaks should have to work out side in the winter, they would be burning tires to try to bring it on.

  7. if it gets any warmer then human existance might cease to exist. the animals would die. the plants. pretty much everything would go extinct. so no i completely disagree with you. here in oklahoma we r just fine anyways.

Also, global warming would kill one of my favorite species of animals. penguins! poor little guys. u nature hater!

  8. well here in pa where i live it was like high 60s for the past few days

and tomorrow they are calling for snow!!

  9. First of all global warming is already happening. If global warming gets worse.... there will be no antartica, or northern ice caps, most of earths land will be underwater, and the rest will be below sea level, we'll get world-wide stavation, and more natural disasters, etc. You think you want global warming, well thats stupid, what you really want is warmer weather.
