No just your ol' hard rain. Ran through that in meets and practices. It's thundering a lot, and lightning bolts are coming down.

Yeah, so I don't want to risk running outside. I'm stuck inside my home. I have no home gym. No treadmill. No access to an indoor track. Running around my house won't work out either. lol.

  1. If you want to do something cardio you could try running on the spot (maybe not...) or skipping. Skipping ropes are quite cheap & you'll get tired quick!

Or if you fancy some strength-type training try a circuit where you don't need any equipment, e.g.

    Sit ups

Crunches (opposite elbow to opposite knee)

Press ups (experiment with narrow arms, wide arms, 1 arm!)

Plank (hold in a press-up position)

    Side plank

Back raises (with your feet under the sofa)

Squat thrusts (in a sprint start position & moving your legs back & forward)

Leg raises (lay on your back, keep your legs straight & together & raise & lower slowly)

Your body may hurt the next morning!

  2. that dave47gn or watever is a total loser

  3. I have a bike trainer and weight bench in my basement, so that would be the obvious fall back.   Other than that, a day off now and then won't hurt anything.

  4. I have ran in harsher conditions than the one you described. A little rain and thunder can't hurt, well it can but its probably not.

  5. If your house is two stories then run up stairs

if it isnt then do some other work out like push ups or squats etc.

or just jog in the same place for a couple of minutes

  6. do circuits! like 45 seconds of press ups then 30second rest then another 45seconds of sit ups ect.

    have fun!

  7. run within house?

  8. Raining- who cares.

I run in rain, snow, sleet, sub zero temp- whatever- I dont skip days.

Its part of being a runner- get out there and get wet

  9. Your smart not to go outside today...its risky (I run in all weather except for thunder/lightning - due to risks).

Perhaps do some aerobic exercises (find a low stool) do step ups warm up at a slow pace for 4 minutes, then speed up and maintain for 2 minutes, cool down for 1 minute and repeat 6X.  Do some crunches 25X, then do 15 lunges each (switch sides doing lunges) carry weights to make it challenging.  Skip (warm up for 3 minutes, pick up the speed for 2 minutes, cool down for 1 minute and repeat 5X).  This should give you the cardio and workout for the day.  At the calming of the storm go for a short 20 minute run.  DO NOT WEAR YOUR IPOD....last year in Vancouver BC, a guy was wearing his IPOD for a run, lightning struck and hit him....he suffered from 3rd degree burns/lucky to be alive.

Or if you ran yesterday...take a rest day and watch a good movie...

    Run happy and train smart.
