Yes, roller derby is an active sport but not to the extent that it was 30 and 40 years ago.  The old teams are gone and have been replaced by new teams.  The teams today are mainly female although there are some all male teams as well as  co-ed and the teams are formed into leagues.  The teams  travel around the country competing against each other just as they did previously.  The following site will give you some background information about the contemporary roller derby.
