I wonder did mccains decision just unite the republican party but didnt really pull a lot of people to switch over to him... I think that in this stage of the game... nothing people can say or do can really sway anyones vote...

  1. i bet you will go to ground after the Sarah Palin acceptance speech!

  2. Well, first the RNC convention hasn't happened, and Obama's bump was trivial and already shrinking, and the real "October Surprises" don't happen until, I think, October!  The 527's are coming with some serious issues.

  3. He was supposed to be ahead until after the RNC. Then again, he was also supposed to get a double digit bump and be leading by 15 points according to the Democratic pollsters.

  4. Obama got a 6% boost from the convention and is now down to 3% on Rasmussen poll

That was McCain's main reason for selecting Palin.

McCain picked up 8% approval rating by slecting Palin from Republicans

Fifty-one percent (51%) of GOP voters now have a Very Favorable opinion of McCain, the first time he has ever topped the 50% level in that measure. On Friday morning, just 43% were that enthusiastic about McCain.

Will have to see if McCain get over the top of Obama by the end of the week.

  5. Dems will talk about Obama and how much they love him, but in the end when it comes down to security purposes and such, No white American will end up voting for Obama

  6. Ahead in the polls?  Barely.

Theoretically, Obama should have gotten a much larger bounce than he did considering the hoopla manufactured by the media.

The average bounce b/w 1976 and 2004 for 14 of 16 national conventions has been about 5 points  and only Gallup showed that.

None of the other polls did so his convention was probably disappointing.

CNN and Zogby have him at dead even with McCain after the Palin announcement.

At least he didn't lose ground like Kerry did.

Once the confetti got swept up, Obama's speech was forgotten. Ehhh! There wasn't any there there. It was the same old Democratic boilerplate.

Although all of our elections since Reagan have been squeakers and this one may be no exception, the Palin nomination may indeed be a game changer.

I don't think that you are "stupid" in the least.

But I think that the media and the Democrats have treated the American public like they are dumb.

They didn't give you the tools to read the American electorate.

Women in America?  They aren't all like "Democratic women" who vote lock-step on "a woman's right to choose."  Polling shows that only about 3% base their vote on that single issue. They've already chosen sides.

Creationism?  Nobody care. Those folks have already chosen sides.

Why do the Democrats and media spend so much time on this c**p?

Because they are out of touch with Middle America.

    Here's what to watch.

    Guns.

Palin and her husband are life-long hunters.

Obama and Biden are supporters of gun control.

PA, Michigan, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, the Dakotas, the Mountain West, Oregon, the entire South, VA,  are all major swing States. And they are full of hunters and gun owners.

    Unions.

The leadership supports Obama/Biden but the rank and file usually breaks with leadership and the Palins are union members and a Union Family.  This gives the rank and file cover to vote for a working class family like them.

    Energy

More than 75% of Americans support drilling. Todd Palin works on a drilling rig. Blue collar union member. She took on the Oil Company and won. Built a $15 million pipeline. Biden opposed the Trans Alaska Pipeline on which the environmentalists were wrong and 15 billion barrels of oil have been carried by that pipeline.

She knows it inside out, talks the talk, knows the economics and environmental issues.

    Finally,

    The women's issues.

Regular Middle Americans still make fun of "women's libbers."

The more that the left attacks an attractive working mother of five who gets stuff done as governor of a big state who has a great husband, the more they will rally around her.

She busted heads and still remained feminine.  Shot a moose and cooked it up for her kids.

As commander of the Alaska National Guard she went to Iraq to visit HER own troops - before Obama bothered.   Now her own son is going.

    What a patriot!

Did you see that rifle?  And the baby on her hip??

Does a guy want to go home at night to Nancy Pelosi or Sarah Palin?

Who does the voters trust to put ethics violators in jail? Pelosi still has some in the House.

When they pump gas into their minivans, who do they think understands?

A woman who needs a car big enough to haul five kids or a guy who rides the Acela train to work?

Governor Palin has what THEY consider to be experience.  To h**l with the media.

    And they IDENTIFY with her.

They don't care about Obama's "story" because they do NOT identify with that story or with him.

Why do you think that America is cheering Sarah.

The Democrats haven't figured out why they're panicking yet.

They don't know many people like Sarah and they don't like the ones they do know.

    That's why they keep losing.

  7. Yawn*

  8. Yes he is ahead and I believe people will realize the dangers of voting in McCain and the very hypocritical Donna Reed with her beehive.

  9. Always has been.  Of course if the rest of the world were involved Obama would win, but it's the US, and anything happens there,

  10. If Obama wins, will he use Alice Cooper's song Dead Babies as his theme song? Just wondering...

  11. At this point in the election, Obama should be WAY ahead. The fact that it is close is what it is interesting. With all the factors, the Dems should win in a landslide. They still might, of course. But the choice of Palin not only unites the party....it charges the base of the party. You will see republicans now ENTHUSIASTICALLY voting for the ticvket, where before they might have sat on their hands.

I still think Obama will win. But it is finally an interesting election.

  12. You idiot that is because the republicans haven't had their convention yet. all candidates get a "bump" in the polls after their conventions.

  13. He's ahead of the Poles, Germans, French.....usually the Dems.. regardless of the candidate...in the past, have been much farther ahead in the polls......it's not a good sign for the Blind leading the blinded party

  14. A lot of Repubs I know are upset with McCain's VP choice and are either switching to Obama (the more moderate Repubs I know) or are not going to vote at all (the more conservative ones).

  15. Listen, hon, the boy is SUPPOSED TO BE 15 - 20 points ahead at this point in time and he's nowhere within shouting distance of a lead like that. By mid-October, it's gonna be all over except for the shouting.

And, yes, you can quote me. Heck, you can even point out that you read it here first!

  16. He should be ahead..most candidates get a bump after their parties convention.

  17. Until Friday

  18. The announcement was on Friday.  There hasn't been a normal business day yet and there won't be until Tuesday.  Don't be so impatient the polls will flip.
