I got high-lights and a cut. She did a great job. One of the other girls even went to Starbucks (although I hate Starbucks) and bought everyone drinks. All in all it was a great time.

  1. That was only 15%. I've read the standard is 20% and for a great job, you tip 25%. If you go lower than 20% to 15% or 10%, then you might be telling your stylist you aren't happy with your hair.

  2. That was more than enough to pay for the hair and the tipping.

  3. $122?  You got off cheap!  Good job!  Most of the gals I've dated were hit up $180 to $300.....but maybe because I set 'em up with a top stylist in my city....yes, I paid....but only for those I really cared a lot for.....I set my standards high and always want the best for them.....and hehehehe....me.   Okay...so I'm a little selfish.....lol....

Your tip was appropriate enough...but did you ask for change for a $20?  LOL....

  4. Wow..  you are a great tipper... Well if you were satisfied with the job.. I guess that's ok.. I tip... about $7 to 10... but I can't afford very often.. not more than once a year to spend $ 120 on a hairstyle.. but I did spend even more once.. a long time ago and I was very satisfied.. that was the only time I was satisfied really with the hair.. and everything.. then I tipped more as well.... I went to the hairdresser then and paid about $ 200 but that was once.. now I pay on average $ 70 and I only go once or twice per year.. as I cant afford itl. but yes if you were satisfied and you can afford it.. then that is a nice tip... $ 18 x*x

  5. Wow. I´m stunned because here, hairdressers NEVER get tips. Ever. Customers pay the listed price for the service and that´s it.

I daresay if a salon charges THAT much for a haircut, good service should be expected anyway.

  6. @ $122.00 I don't think they even deserve a tip. What a rip off.

  7. sounds to me like it was more than generous. i used to be a hairdresser and was lucky to get 5. they always came back to me so i knew they liked my work. i think any kind of tip is generous. its not the law to tip. you tip to say thanks good job. just because you cant afford a big tip doesnt mean your less appreciative. i had a little ole lady that came every week to me. she just loved me to death. my tip every week was 25 cents. id smile and say thanks and she'd pinch my cheek and say, "and you deserve every penny of it too dear"

  8. YES DEAR,  Not only did U pay her good money to feed her family but U are also considerate enough to worry about giving her more than the price for what she charged for her service. Total Amount : $140  15% extra from your heart and now UR taxing your heart further. God Bless You.  The hairstylist is lucky she didn't do your hair in CHINA where tipping isn't allowed.

  9. Generally 15% is an ok tip for an ok job. If your stylist was really good or had to do a lot of extra work then maybe 20% would have been good.

I don't see the point in tipping at 20 or 25%. It used to be that 15% was a good tip for most services and it keeps getting higher.  Where does it stop?

The other issue is how well off you are. If 20% or 25% is nothing to your finances, then by all means have a be the big spender, but not everyone can afford that.

  10. I think 15% is plenty, especially when it costs so d**n much! Why are you wasting your money on a haircut that is over $100? It surely isn't worth it, and you should be saving your money if you have that much to burn. Did you see the line at that LA bank on the news (Friday)?

  11. Please tell me that was for the works.  (Cut, lo-lights, highlights, etc.)  That's quite high!

For that price, they were probably making money on the services too.  15% should be good in that case.
