In Atlanta, They raised the water bill because when people conserved, they couldn't collect enough revenue. Will they do the same with gas? The electric company came to my house to check my meter so he said, I asked what he was doing, he said he was sent because my Electric bill is TOO low, so they wanted him to check it. Didn't they say conserve???

  1. I'm not really answering your question, but I just want to say GOOD JOB.

I try everyday to cut down on electricity, water and gas usage.

    You're a great person.

  2. for some things, particularly water, when there's not enough, they ask people to conserve.

however, the pipes and water treatment still have to be maintained.

    they all cost the same.

so they do have to charge more.

same is true for gas and electricity.

they have to maintain all the infrastructure, even is less is being used.

so they have to raise rates.

when they say the bill is  "TOO low"  they're afraid their meter is broken.

    that does really happen.

    and they'll replace it.

it's not intended to punish you.

  3. i love YOU u are right on when this save and conserve c**p s***w THE ENVIORNMENT when they do things the way they are. if it were different i wouldnt mind doin it  but none of it has made any sense to the cost for us today and forhow there going about it when we conserve they jack the price up so why pay more to get less? no supply and  demand for any of them

  4. It's funny you mentioned this... Our electric bill last month was $70, this month our electric bill was $109, but we used less energy.  (We decided to buckle down and conserve) So we called our electric company... would you believe they raise the rates in the summer because the demand is higher for electricity?!? We haven't turned our air conditioning on yet to try and save money and yet we're paying more a month because other people are running their air!  When I called them they recommended we change our light bulbs.  I told them, we already have the spiral bulbs and have had them for several years now.  We're sorry was all they had to say.  So much for conservation.

  5. If your bill is very low (especially compared to your previous use), it might be because the meter is defective or tampered with.  Power companies do have people steal from them.

I have slashed my electric consumption with CF lights and going from CRT to LCD display on my computer, but I did this a bit at a time and never had anyone knock on my door to look at my meter (then again, my meter was outside my apartment).

Conservation is a good thing.  I told the condo association here how much they could save by switching the porch lights to compact fluorescent.  They did it a few months ago, and just reported in the newsletter that the switch will pay for itself 4 or 5 times over.  Nobody is going to complain that the powerplants aren't using coal fast enough.

  6. People will always take more regardless of what they should be doing. Gas prices will keep going up because the twits with the shiny Hummers will keep filling them up.

The people of Atlanta should revolt.

The people of Atlanta should also move back up north so their enormous contribution to global warming will stop. The invention of air conditioning is why corporations moved to Atlanta- along with the tax breaks. This increased the city's population and its contribution to global warming. Don;t get me wrong it is a problem everywhere, but Atlanta is just a shining example. And a cool city.

  7. Fore Sure

  8. I would have to ask the electric company for a better explanation than that.  Like, how high do you want my bill to be?  And then why do you want my bill to be higher?  And then I would insist he or she explain it in detail and in writing if necessary.

  9. Conservation is a load of c**p. If the market is flooded prices go down, people start using less they raise prices to make ends meet.
