It Said my dates of ovulation were 22nd(?) to the 26th, most likely to conceive on the 24th..

If i had s*x on the 26th, and he came inside me, is the possibility of pregnancy still high. Or is the 24th the day that i needed to have s*x?

Or just any of the ovulation dates?

  1. Don't go by anything on the internet.  There are REAL ways to know when you ovulate.  Try temping and checking for discharge.  You usually ovulate for about a week, but one of those days is the highest, so you could still get pregnant.

  2. No, you don't 'ovulate for a week' as posted above. You ovulate for about 15 minutes (they just found this out a few weeks ago when they captured the first ovulation on film in the Netherlands).

But the picture isn't too bad, because sperm can live for 5 days in a fertile environment. I agree that online calculation methods are sketchy at best, but there are other things you can do to get the timing better. First Google 'EWCM' and make a note of when you get it. This is the best (and free!) way to know that ovulation is going to happen in the next 3 or 4 days. Or you could pay for OPKs but I'd start with the cervical mucus first.

Ovulation is around 14 days before your NEXT period (for everyone, even if you're highly irregular) so that will help you narrow down the possibilities. Be sure to BD daily from 12-16 days before your next period, and a few days before then too, for good luck!

  3. I am assuming you got these dates from an online ovulation calendar or predictor. Those go by an "average" cycle of 28 days with ovulation on day 14, but since many women vary from that, it is not very accurate to go by one of those online calculators.

But it was probably assuming ovulation right on the 24th, and the 22nd to the 26th were within your most fertile time because sperm can live a few days (up to 5) inside you, and because once you ovulate the egg lives from 12-24 hours. IF it was right, and you ovulated on the 24th, then having s*x on the 26th is probably too late because the egg will no longer be around. However there is a good chance that you didn't actually ovulate on the 24th. You may have ovulated earlier, or later. If you ovulated a little later than predicted, then your chances would be better. There is no way to know for sure when you ovulate unless you chart your BBT (Basal Body Temp) and use that info to pinpoint ovulation (you will notice a pattern and elevated temps indicate ovulation), or use an OPK (Ovulation Prediction Kit). Short of doing those things, you just have to guess like you are and hope for the best.

Keep in mind that a healthy couple, with perfect timing and no known fertlilty problems, have a 20-25% chance of conceiving each cycle.
