  1. Well first of all it means that no matter where you are you still need a bright future. (probably cause your going to probably graduate soon.)

Let's say... that... you're in the fire right now. You don't have good grades, and everyone hates you. The topic means you can still exceed. :D

Here are some ideas for an intro:

(they might be bad. I'm only in the 7th grade...hope they help!)

I am *your name here*, and I was born in a bad condition. First of all, my condition was *your condition here (it can be bad finances, bad neighborhood, bad social class etc.)*. Explain. Explain. Try to remember a quote from when you were young. (don't forget to tell who said it.) I wasn't doing well, and things didn't look good.

    (2nd,3rd, adn 4th paragraph)

*Explain your life hardships(what you did to try and push yourself to the top. use quotes and explanations)*

    (5th paragraph; conclusion)

*Tell if your life is going a lot better than in the past*

Conclusion sentence: I realized that it doesn't really matter were you are or where you stood. It is only important about where you're going.

So now I guess you can use that format (you could turn it backwards if you had a great childhood but are doing badly, or use a fake person as an example),or some other sophisticated colledge format. Good luck!!

    :D

  2. To me, the quote means that a person's situation in the present doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is a person's future, and the steps it takes to get there. Colleges seem to like essays based on experience, so if I were you, I'd write a personal narrative. It can be about anything, but make sure to pick a topic that you feel passionately about. Be truthful about it, make the essay reflect who you are as an individual, and if possible, reflect your interests and personality. You could start the essay with dialogue, a reflective statement, or a startling statement. Just try not to boast about personal achievements in your essay, or transition from one topic to another. I just read a couple examples of college essays, and this website could be of use to you. It also has some tips for writing the essay. The essays are under "Essay Skills", then "Sample Essays." Good luck!
