It feels like fall the past few days in Michigan, how about where you are?

Our weather the past few days and nights has been autumnal, and it feels so nice. However, it seems quite early for this. The animals are shedding earlier. Are we in for a long winter? Or is it just a nice break from usual August heat and humidity? What is is like where you are?

Well, I live in Michigan so it's pretty nice here as you have mentioned.  The high this weekend is only supposed to be like 80 (usually it would be like 90 at least), so that should be nice.  I am really enjoying the mild weather, I'm sure it will be a much nicer power bill too.

I think we might have a long winter, the trees are starting to color already a little bit where I am (between Flint and Saginaw).

I kinda hope we have a hard winter, we need the snow to bring the lake levels back up.

here in south carolina it is usually around 100 this time of year but we have had very unusual high temps lately.........the other day the high was only 76 and it was great to feel cooler weather again. i think that we might have a very cold winter.

Here in Colorado Springs, Co. It's 12:55 pm. The outside temp is 54 degrees. Its unseasonably cool out. It's also raining in areas and we are suppose to get snow in the upper parts of the Rocky mountains. I think its a nice break from the hot weather because I like the cold. It definitely feels like fall weather.

It's very hot here in the Plains. We might actually break records on Monday. I think this is just a normal phase, since if you look at North America as a whole, it all balances out. It is very rare for the entire continent to be hot at the same time, or cold at the same time.

Most people live in the East, and consequently define climatic patterns based on the weather they see in the East, but the East does not define the continent, much less the world.

Also, an early start to fall has no bearing on the kind of winter that is coming. For all we know, I may get a cold winter and you may get a warm one.

I'm from Michigan and it has been cooler. Last Sunday it was in the 60's. I love that weather, that occasional cool summer day. It's just August I guess. Also I think a cold front came through recently but it will be getting warmer.

It's been the coldest year in a decade...And they say Global Warming...

Yea it is nice though isn't it?  Autumn and Winter are my favorite seasons.  The colors of Autumn and the cold of winter...My favorite things in nature.  Especially up north near Traverse City or Huron side like Alpena...It's already changing a lot up there says a friend of mine.

Quite fall-like here in southeast Wyoming.  Right now the temperature is steady in the upper 40's with rain.  Quite an unusually cool day here today, coldest since about 1888.

It cannot be said how this relates to the upcoming winter.  It is likely just an unusual cool snap.
