It had to happen - What do you think?

The defending 800m Olympic Champion did the old "slow down because I am so damned good" and got pipped on the line. Nett result, because of this he is not in the final.

We have seen runners doing it though all the heats and nearly getting caught so it was only a matter of time before it actually happened.

These races are over a set distance, for example, it is the 800m not the 785m and I think they should be running all the way to the line!

What do you think of this behaviour by runners and should their coaches be giving them a rocket for easing off before the line?

  1. Oh they all try to follow the great Asafa Powell, even Bolt does it and people don't like it that much, but he has all right to do so when he's leading with daylight between him and his chasers.

Remember when Tyson g*y tried that c**p in the US Trials? AHAHA when our athletes do it i rate them, but when others do it and lose or have to rethink their action I LAUGH

  2. Whatever happened to 100% all the time.

That motto seems to be worthless anymore.

  3. ioc blasted him for his antics~~>IOC blasts Bolt: 'Not the way we perceive being a champion'

  4. they deserve it for being so cocky.

  5. Lol...are you serious?  I would have loved to see that race.

  6. Most of them slow down so they don't use to much energy because there are so many races to run. It is kind of dumb to do it if you aren't safe, but they want to finish the race as easily as possible.

  7. From what I understand, they slow down to avoid any serious injury. Their legs develop so much power that any bad step can leave you out of a final. Some of them are showboating right, but others do it because of what I just said.

No what's erally dumb, is to slow down without looking back. If you're going to do it, you should at least make sure you're all by yourself.
