  1. Just before you read your paper in front of the class just tell them that you do not know the language very well and it might sound weird.

    I think they'll understand.

    Good Luck

  2. Most Americans enjoy meeting foreign visitors and we don't think less of people for making grammatical errors as they learn a new language.

If you think you wrote your essay on the wrong topic, you may want to meet with your teacher before class begins and discuss this with him or her.  If you did make a mistake, perhaps you can have extended time to rewrite it.

If your teacher wants you to present your essay to the class anyway, why not introduce yourself to the class, tell where you are from and explain that you are still a beginning English speaker and writer.

MOST Americans cannot speak a second language and we admire people who do, especially foreign students who have the added challenge of college work taught in an unfamiliar language.

I wish you good luck and a happy stay in our country.

  3. Relax! i am also like you. i am studying korean language but i am not worrying so much why??? simply because that is not our native language. for me, korean language is my 3rd language. my 1st is Filipino, 2nd is English and 3rd is Korean. so dont worrry about that you will learn eventually.

  4. I can tell, By your question part

"It hurts my feeling" When it is supposed to be Feelings

But My friend is from Vietnam and she barley knows English as well. But before you go up, have your friends read the essay and tell them the mistakes you did, and mark them off, and then read it. Don't feel embarrassed of doing your best.

  5. Relax--you'll be fine. :-)

Calmly explain to your audience that English is not your first language and that you are still learning. Apologize for any mistakes  you made and begin by telling people that you misunderstood and wrote on a different topic. Most (if not all) people will be very understanding and will still be glad to listen to your essay and think you are very brave for visiting a new country for school.

  6. Can you find another student that could tutor you in English? Some one that doesn't charge you much money. It would help to know English better for your studies.
