i am training to go into the air force academy and am following their running schedule. sometimes when i run, however, my left hip, right around where the femur meets the pelvis, starts to hurt. it's more annoying than anything, but i want to get rid of it. is it a muscle, bone, ligament or joint problem? and what should i do to prevent it?

i am also running flat footed, by and large, because that is what i will be doing when i am in boots

  1. Sounds like you are getting a hip strain....you should wear running shoes and watch your stride length....if you injure your hip now you won't be much good later on...build up a good running base with good running shoes and then worry about running in boots later.  It'll be easier on your body.

  2. Not good to run flat footed maybe if your running but if your sprinting not good. Run light footed on your toes. Get checked by a sports medicine docor.

  3. It could be a number of things. It could be that you're getting tendonitis in your hip flexors or its also possible that you are having issues with your iliotibial (IT) band. It is impossible for someone to diagnose this issue over the internet. You should see a sports medicine expert such as an athletic trainer or a sports doctor.

  4. get a physical, if you haven't already. and if you are running long distances every day or close to that it could be that you are sore from running to much and should get an icy hot patch or similar thing to soothe the sore mussel.

  5. you must be running with the wrong form or your body just isn't use to the stress your putting on it.  stretch it out  before you run

  6. i unno
