Its not a requirement it all depends on where u go some colleges will except the ACT u should check with the schools u want to go to b4 it to late

Most colleges/universities will accept the SAT, ACT, or both.  However, neither is usually not an option.  Mount Holyoke College (a women's college) and some other colleges are moving towards only requiring an application and high school transcript for admission.  This is rare, but if you Google for schools that don't require either or go to collegeboard.com you will probably find a few.

Most US colleges require you to take either the SAT or ACT.  The SAT is typically more popular.

Some colleges have minimum scores.  You should enroll in an SAT prep class or buy an SAT prep book.

But one bit of good news, you can take the SAT as many times as you want to get the score you need, but the school will see all of the tries and not just the high one so you should try to do good the first time.
