It is disappointing to lose Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915, says Martin Guptill - Cricket News Update
New Zealand opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Guptill-c1980, on Wednesday admitted that Ross Taylor’s shoulder injury is a huge blow for his side going into the five-match ODI series. However, he was hopeful that youngsters will step up in the absence of Taylor and wicketkeeper
batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129.
"It is disappointing to lose Ross. We all know he's a world class player and he's our captain as well and we miss his guidance," said the Auckland-born top-order batsman while speaking to media reporters ahead of the One Day International series opener,
which gets underway in Kingston, on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
The injury prone Kiwi skipper, Ross Taylor, sustained a shoulder injury during the 56-run defeat in the tour opening T20 International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at Lauderhill Florida, last Saturday. The injury not only ruled the visiting skipper out of the
second and final T20 International of the two-match series, but also sidelined him for the first part of the ODI series.
New Zealand’s regular vice captain and wicketkeeper batsman, Brendon McCullum, has already been rested for the one-day leg of the West Indies itinerary.
Guptill, one of the most experienced players in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s touring party, said that though the experienced duo would be missed during the ODI series, their absence would give young players an opportunity to step up and prove their mettle.
"Without Brendon and Ross in the side we lose a bit of that experience, we've got quite a young batting line-up but the guys are picked in this squad for a reason,” said the 25-year-old right-handed batsman, who has to date played 60 ODIs for the Blackcaps.
In the absence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KS-Williamson-c1813. led the side in Sunday’s T20, which the Kiwis lost by 61 runs.

Guptill had a word of praise for the young stand-in skipper, "Kane stepped up well in that last match as captain and we've got that cover in the side."
The opening batsman also had his hopes attached with the bowlers, as the Kiwis look to bounce back.

"If the bowlers can do that and execute their plans well we're going to be in good shape to win these games."
