Question:

It is good dining etiquette to eat the "decors" in your main menu, i.e., the carved carrot, lettuce, etc.

I sometimes find it irresistible to eat that piece of lettuce or parsley on the side of my main course plate.

  1. I would say most people don't eat the garnish.  But,I am a huge cooking reality show fan...and the thing I always hear on them is that the garnish should always be edible.  So, if you like ti...eat away!

    P.S. Parsley is very underappreciated as an extremely healthy vegetable . . . or herb . . . or whatever it is!

  4. Kale, bright shiny lettuce like  leaf, is used to add color to the plate as it appears better to the guest, also a filler to make the plate appear full of food.    You can eat it but most do not.

  5. if it is edible i don't see why not..  i wouldn't eat that plastic grass in the take out sushi tray though..
