Hello. I have met a really nice guy and I need your help. We know each other for about a month and it's his 36th birthday in two weeks time. I don't know him that well yet therefore I have no idea what present to get (you are welcome for suggestions), so I have decided to take him to a nice, romantic bar/restaurant in Covent Garden or Leicester Square area. It is going to be on Thursday after work and just two of us. I want to take him somewhere he has never been (he is from USA so there aren't lot of places in London he HAS been). Sadly but Jewel Bar is out of option. Any suggestions?

  1. why dont you take him to the famous hard rock cafe then go around london on a night out go in pubs down Leicester square or anywhere like around there or i dont no just trying to help hard rock sounds good tho as its in middle off all action off london and its ner big places in london for sight seeing and clubs and bars or maybe go take him to a play if you see where am come from

    hope this helps like

  2. I would second the recommendation for Clos Maggiore. Check out some reviews here:

You might also like Patara on Greek Street. It's very romantic - dimly lit with hundreds of tiny candles and a wooden temple sculpture in the middle - and food (Thai) is flawless:

You could also consider Octave, which is a restaurant and jazz bar - if you like that kind of music.

Personally, I would take him to the newly opened Quo Vadis on Dean Street which is just wonderful:

Most of the bars in Covent Garden are very busy and noisy. You could try the Light Bar:

I would definitely avoid Katana at the International hotel (poor food, shabby bar); Fire & Stone (awful pizza); and Dirty Martini (always overcrowded / hot).

    Have a wonderful evening!

  3. If the two of you want to see some of the sights of London get on one of 'The Big Bus' Tourist Buses or 'The London Sightseeing Tour' Tourist Buses that drive around the #1 City in the World !

  4. A good restaurant to go to for a nice 'special occasion', romantic type meal is Clos Maggiore, near Covent Garden

Make sure you book a table in the main room. Sometimes TopTable has special offers there so check that out before booking
