I will be doing my first jump on a 250 2-stroke soon but I've never done one before, I've been riding about 9 months now and riding the 250 for about 6, but i don't know roughly what gear to stay in, what to do in the air and stuff like that, can you please help me, tell me what you need to know.

  1. Just keep a steady throttle like in 3rd gear..dont try and gas it at the lip of the jump...Keep even steady throttle..Make sure you have the gas on when you land..About the same amount as when you jumped..That will keep you from swaping and keep you going forward....Start with a table-top..so if you dont make it.. it wont be a big deal if you case the top of it...start small until you get the hang of it....Be carefull  :)

  2. it depens on the ramp. If you were only doing small jumps id say around 1st to 2nd gear. But if your jumping big id say 3rd to 4th.

  3. It depends alot on the size of the jump and stuff, but i would recommend on a 250 2-stroke you should power up to the ramp much fast than you need to go and then buttoning off b4 the lip, this is because these bikes are very light for the amount of power they produce and other wise you will nose up in the air and land on your back wheel too much, if this happens on bigger jumps simply pull in the clutch and tap the back brake this will drop the front and the opposite applies if your jumping and your nose is lower than the back, just give it a couple of bursts of throttle in the air and itl rite itself, also when going up the ramp dont fight it and be rigid, bend your knees stand up and flow through the ramp compressing your shocks, the more you compress the futher u will go

  4. Smooth power and relaxed posture are the most important. Practice standing on the pegs and hitting the rear brake. since you stand when you jump practicing this will make it easier to correct if the nose is to high. O... your legs have just as much suspension built into them as your bike does, use it.

  5. You really need to ask the other guys who are doing it and watch them to find out speeds. If its a small jump though, just do it. In the air: Rear brake brings the front down, tramp it to bring the front up, hit the gas on landing.
