It is normal for your baby to stop moving less towards the end of pregnancy?

My sister is 38 weeks pregnant, this is her first. She was upset today, b/c she hadn't felt him move much at all. I've heard that towards the end, that the baby moves less. Is there any truth to that?

  2. Yes, they don't have as much room anymore! :)

  3. my doctor told the the amount of movement should not change even at the end of your pregnancy. she should call her doctor so they can do a fetal stress test as soon as she can.

  4. Yes its true. Babies have less room to move around in the further along the pregnancy is.

  5. Absolutely!  Think about it...at 38 weeks the baby is basically the same size it is when it's born...so that size baby is what's inside of you...that doesn't leave much wiggle room!!

By 38 weeks with my second son I could actually see the imprint of his hand or foot as he pressed it against the inside of my belly!  Talk about some freaky stuff!!

  6. Im 35 weeks and Ive notice a change in movement. The baby is cramped right now so yes the baby's movement is less but the kicks are much harder.

  7. It is true, they don't have as much room so they don't like to move around too much. I didn't feel my daughter for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy, but she was healthy as she came out at 9lbs 2 oz

  8. very true- im 37weeks friday - and all my baby does is sleep now. if i want to feel her move i have sugar. that wakes her up- but close to 95 percent of the day she's sleeping. tell her she's fine- i had these scares all the time- but the doctor says it's normal

  9. Yes, it is normal. She has less room now, Your sister should lie still for 15 minutes and count how many times she feels movement and report this to her MD

  10. yes this is true but if she doesn't feel him move AT ALL in an eight hour period and she has moved around, layed down, and ate then i would call the doc...  just to make sure everything is okay.  my little brother died in utero at 38 weeks because the cord got knotted and wrapped around his neck.  i am NOT saying this is happening, just making you aware that it does happen and towards the end she should make sure she is doing her kick counts.  i'm sure everything is okay :)  congratulations!!!

  11. Her baby will move less towards the end of pregnancy because there isnt much room left for them too move. However, if she hasnt felt him move all day this can also mean he is getting ready for delivery, babies save their energy for a couple of days before hand.

If she is very worried she should get him checked out but im sure everything is fine.

Congratulations to her and best of luck with delivery.
