I mean, I don't even know the difference between democrats and republicans. Or what they even mean. Or liberals and all that stuff. And what side the people are running for are on...

I don't ever want to vote. Ever.

What do you think? Does it matter?

Just curious...

  1. I only did once when I was 18.  I was so excited.  Then I found out if you vote for president, your represenitive can vote any way he or she wants for president for the electorial votes.  On the local, I found the ones you elect do what they want anyway.  So why vote???  I may be pestimistic but I don't think it matters anyway/

By the way, it doesn't get you out of jury duty anymore.  They go by voter registration, home ownership, drivers liscense and many other pools.  I did jury duty many atime, so I hope no one thinks that is why I don't vote.  My husband doesnt vote cause he thinks he won't get jury duty.  By the way, I am 53.

  2. No, it's not okay. Are you interested in how things get done in your community/state/country? Or are you just going to let other people do it and then complain when you think that they get it wrong?

  3. Thats your perogative.

  4. If you're living in a country who's government does not allow the citizens to take part in government, it's not important to pay attention to politics.

If you live in a democracy, it is important to care about politics. The decisions that are reached affect almost every aspect of our lives in some way or other, and if the country goes down the drain, it is the fault of those who allowed it to.

However, if you feel no interest in politics whatsoever, it is much better if you do not vote. Although I believe that every informed and able person should vote and be involved in politics, those who are not informed and voting are like monkeys pulling levers, they might do good or harm, but it's not a chance that should be taken.

  5. If you are unintelligent, then you are doing your nation a favor by withdrawing yourself from the political process.  The economic, social, and national security decisions that our elected leaders must make are very complex.  Serious thought is required before anyone can make a positive contribution to the selection of the leaders who make these decisions.

If, however, you are intelligent, you are depriving your country of your valuable contribution.

That you are not forced to participate is a beautiful part of the American democracy.  But remember the immortal words of Rush (The band, not the talk radio host)..."If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice!"

  6. Im always fighting some awkward PITA but I dont vote i aint got the time

  7. Yes, it matters because when you don't vote you lose the chance to vote for things that you would like to see.

  8. Sure, it's okay to not care about politics.  As long as it's okay with you if your government takes more money out of your paycheck, doubles the rate on your vehicle registration, makes it harder & more expensive to get any health insurance for you and your parents, makes tuition rates unaffordable at your local university, lets gas prices continue to skyrocket, lets the war in Iraq go on for another 100 years, and lets food prices & unemployment rates continue to soar.  If all that's okay with you, then sure it's okay to not care about politics.  After all, it doesn't affect you, right?

  9. Thats the type of person our politicians want, so they can run amuck, doing anything they want, and s******g U.S.  Take an interest, and VOTE !!
