  1. Some bacteria do undergo conjugation. They lie beside each other and exchange nuclear material. This is how some antibiotic  resistance is achieved.


  2. False. But there are such things as fungi and some algae with a + and - type. In order for such species to breed, they must encounter one of the species with the opposite type (i.e., a + can only mate with a -). Also, in bacterium there are F plasmids that some carry and can transmit to other bacterium in a parasexual encounter.
