I was wondering if it is possible for me to defeat someone much stronger and bigger than me in a STREET FIGHT or self-defense situation, using only western boxing skills. Lets say that my height is 5' 8'' and my weight 155 pounds, but my opponent is 6' 0'' height with a weight of about 250. And let's suppose that this guy doesn't know how to fight... but he is much stronger than me.

How many chances I have to win this fight / defend myself if I have boxing experience?

  1. im 5'8" and i beat a guy who was about six feet tall, but i weight around 185 and weights around 200 pounds, so he was taller than me but not stronger, this guy u want to fight has 100 pounds on you, i wouldnt recommend fighting him, but i guess if u were a really good boxer u might have a shot, there is a reason for weight classes

  2. It depends on how long you have been trainned for boxing and your aggressivness.  It also depends on how strong that bigger guy is or is he just a chubby slow guy. Sometimes you don't need to know fighting in order to knock down the guy who has been trainned to fight for a short time.  Its all about aggressiveness.

In fact, having been trainned boxing alone may not necessarily be able to help you win a street fighting.  For street fighting, MMA may seem better.

  3. of course unless he grabs you and gets you on the ground or something the ud probably get beat but if he doesnt and you keep goin you could win

  4. Power only overcomes technique when the powerful dude knows somewhat what they're doing, using boxing only absolutely size won't matter.  Provided of course, the big dude in question doesn't have prior street fighting experience....

Boxing has proven its "street cred" many times though; it is the original "street savvy" "Martial art."

  5. as long as the guy really does not know how to fight you have a chance, not one I'd bet my a** on though

  6. you should never expect a style designed for sport rules, to be just as applicable in the street, because there are no rules in the street and there is stuff that works much better with no limitations.

its important to use more skills then just the complete basics. you will either get kicked, taken down, clinched, etc..  train in something else if you want self defense.
