Sure it is. The wetter they are with the solution before putting them on, the better.

The multi purpose solutions are safe for the eyes straight out of the bottle , so you can't have too much on the lenses.

contact lens solution is basically slightly salty water- just like your tears.  It's perfectly safe to have the solution touch your eye.  In fact, you SHOULD leave some solution on the lens, so it attaches easier to your eye!
