  1. Well, they need to hire some new consultants.  Everywhere I go, they have all these ridiculous little gimmicks that most certainly do NOT delight me--they only make me roll my eyes.

If they want to delight me, they should pay closer attention to what their counter help is doing.  I do not appreciate standing there like an idiot while someone rings up my purchases while carrying on a full conversation with the other person behind the counter--or even worse, on his cell phone---proceeds to take my money and give me my change without uttering the first word, and then hands me my bag in this offhand manner as if I were nothing but an inconvenience.  Now, I don't expect to be fawned over when I go into an establishment---I'm not interested in these silly things meant to delight me---all I want is someone to recognize my existence and utter  a simple "Thank you" when I've come in there and spent my hard-earned money that I could have taken elsewhere.

You want to delight me.  Try that instead.
