  1. Why would you never question someone for any reason?  An irrational attachment to anything doesn't sound like a person living in a normal world but more geared toward some psychological warp.  Normal people see the value as it is attributed through study and knowledge and not through some irrational attachment to something that makes no sense.  Sounds more like an obsessive compulsive disorder to me.  That is a person that needs help.

  2. What is this quirk?  I would say no.  Most of us have an irrational fear.  As long as it doesn't interrupt your day or affect your life, it's not a big deal.

I would say I'm very rational and well-balanced, but I have a completely irrational fear of glass floors.  I guess I think it might randomly dissolve??  Not sure.  It sounds silly.  But I will not step on one and if I do, the anxiety is uncontrollable.  However in a 3 year time frame, I run across this maybe once.  I wouldn't say an irrational quirk has any strong reason--but a strong reaction.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't question it.  However if it is truly and irrational quirk, you won't get much of an answer.  I have no idea why I'm afraid of glass floors.  Most people have no idea why they are petrified of spiders.  There is no deeper meaning.  They just are.  And a conversation about the topic won't help.  Most rational well-balanced people would be able to identify that it is an irrational fear that they have.  That doesn't make it go away.
