we English speaking Canadians do value that people speak english. In fact all job prerequisites for general help wanted ads state " must speak english, must read english, must write english"

Pretty much the only exceptions are people with dyslexia, people that are deaf & people that are mute

Then there are the French Canadians who probably have the same prerequisites about french.

I suspect they value English a lot more, and you don't seem to have that.
