It it unusual for a college student to go part time for one semester and full time the next?

I want to go part time this semester it will be my first year in college but next semester i want to go full time, is this uncommon and will it effect the classes i take next semester? I haven't talk to a counsler yet so i want to hear your guy's thought on this

  1. No it is not unusual for people to start off parttime and then upping to full time...It will not affect your classes or anything...it will only push your graduation time back a semester but that could also happen with based on your grades....Grades are important....so start slow and then go from there...no big deal...good luck.


  2. Not these days. In fact, more and more people are preoccupied with jobs and such. That's what the whole online school craze is about.

  3. I mean, I've never heard of it, but you can still do it. Be aware that some scholarships that people depend on require a full-time status most of the time. If that doesn't affect you, then you can choose to do that. Keep in mind also, that your class standing is determined by the number of hours/credits you have. If you want to take summer classes to make up for the half-time of this upcoming semester, that's a good idea.

  4. It's very common. I used to alternate between full and part time every semester, as do most college students. Unless it affects your financial aid (and it probably will) you'll be with the majority.
