It occurs to me if you have a simple SDTV box of your own you can hook up to things you don't need to rent additional equipment to maintain current wire-signal when companies strip away channels off the wire just a handful at a time (which they've already been doing in many states)1. You pay for basic cable that works fine on several tvs2. The channels start dissappearing anyway because your tv is 2 years old and isn't SDTV and the companies love to sell you a new tv every 3 years and rent new equipment to attach that gets even larger than the tv.So does simple SDTV box you can OWN (for basics) instead of renting (for fancy) even exist?
