Say for some bizarre reason, tommorow the sun was so hot it would catch things on fire ...

theres nothing we could really do? i dont like the fact of how strong the sun is.

But if it were extremely cold we could wear millions of layers etc...

Sorry this question seems bizarre/naive/immature/&silly but how the h**l would we protect ourselves from a boiling sun

  1. Wrap your house in tin foil!

  2. It's been holding fairly steady for 4 1/2 billion years so you should not worry.  Don't believe all the global warming hype.  It's just trying to get you scared so you might buy something or support some group.  Get a date with ur bf/gf and go to Dairy Queen for a banana split.

  3. that would suck.

if that does happen we would just be screwed.

i think the world would come together and start trying to do something about pollution and what not if it started to get that bad.not that it isn't horrible now.

  4. we have protection. its the atmosphere. if it wasnt for this layer the earths temps would vary greater.

so if tommorrow the sun suddenly becuame much hotter which wont happen becuase the sun is powerful, but one day in spaces eyes is shorter than a blink of an eye.

it wont happen, but if the sun suddenly becuase hot or cool the atmosphere would protect us at least for a while.

this is why many times when a day in the summer is cloudy the day temperatures and night temperatures arent very far apart sometimes 10 degreees, sometiimes 5, and sometimes they are about the same on very thick clouds

  5. We could go inside for a little while and that would work depending on how good the insulation is.  After that failed we would have to dig deep enough into the ground to escape it.  We as a race are smart but in the cosmic reality we are very young.  Try not to feel too dismal, the chance of your scenario occurring is very, very tiny.

  6. That's an easy one.  You can't.

Think of it like this.  Earth is about 93 million miles away from the sun and it's already this hot.  Just imagine if the sun moved a couple million miles closer.

  7. YES, WE WOULD BURN

  8. Try worrying about the oxygen running out so we all suffocate, or the water running out.  Then perhaps that will take your mind off worrying about the sun burning us all to death :)

  9. It's happening... Sloooowwwwllyy....
