‘It was a dream come true to play for T&T’, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kevon-Cooper-c71194 - Cricket News Update
His team might not have won a place in the Champions League (CL) Twenty20 (T20) semi-finals, but for Trinidad &Tobago’s (T&T) lower order player, Kevon Cooper, marking a win against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cape-Cobras-c776 on Tuesday was like a dream come true.
“It’s difficult to express my feelings right now. After watching the guys play international cricket on TV, and then playing against them, playing a big knock for my team, it is something I dream about”, said Cooper.
Although, Cooper managed to earn the Man of the Match title with his 25 runs and a single wicket; but during his post-match comments, the medium-pacer revealed that he was more happy for representing his national colours rather than his own performance.
“I just wanted to get out there and perform for my team and take on the bowlers and deliver for my team tonight,” added Cooper.
Having dealt with a chase worth 138 runs by the Cape Cobras, T&T’s top-order batters took on the target sluggishly. However, after the side lost some quick wickets, the middle-order players did a fine job with the charge.
In a nail biting situation, the Cobras bowlers tried their best to restrict the Caribbean side to fall short of the chase, but with Cooper and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472he team, T&T finally managed to cover up the mark in the death over, with just 2 balls remaining.
Coming in at number 8, Cooper held his ground strong, scoring an aggressive 25 off 11 balls – which was comparatively a more worthy performance compared to his team’s top order.
Having won the hearts of the audience, the 22-year-old was further lauded by his Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cooper-c51561’s inclusion on T&T (at the age of 16), he has proved himself to be a promising star for his side and will mature into an imposing cricketer.
The Skipper also added that even if his side did not make it to the tournament’s semi-finals, he would still be leading a proud team back home with their heads held high, and further thanked his spectators for making T&T’s colourful run at the CLT20 a laudable one.
