It was great to play the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 – Cricket News Update
Saeed Ajmal, the Pakistani off-spinner, is happy and satisfied with the experience of playing the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) and hopes that his franchise, Kandurata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861, will do well at the later stages of the tournament.
The 34-year-old wily spinner has been an integral part of Pakistan’s success in all formats over the last couple of years, being rated among the top bowlers in world cricket.
Kandurata has qualified for the semi-final of the cash-rich league and will take on Nagenahira Nagas in the crunch match at Colombo on August 29. However, three of their premier players, Ajmal, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665 and Misbah ul Haq will
not be available for the fixture because of Pakistan’s limited-over series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033.
In the five matches he played for the franchise, Ajmal has picked up just five wickets and has been a touch expensive as well (conceding 7.27 runs per over), which is below the standards he usually sets in the shortest format of the
game.
However, while talking to Pakpassion, the wily spinner expressed that he enjoyed playing SLPL because it was his first experience of playing franchise cricket, apart from a very short stint in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Premier League
(BPL) earlier this year.
Ajmal thanked the Sri Lankan cricket authorities for giving him a chance to play in the event, which has been a success so far.
"It has been an excellent experience playing in a major league tournament alongside some well known International players and almost equally talented local youngsters," he said. "As you know, I haven’t played league cricket like this
before – the only one was the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) so I am really enjoying this experience and I thank the organisers for their hard work and hospitality – this is really a fantastic tournament."
While talking about Kandurata’s chances in the knockout stage, the off-spinner admits that his side took some time to gain momentum in the tournament but now they are on track to lift the trophy.
"In the beginning, our team had a slow start but now we have started winning games and spirits are high in the team," Ajmal added.
