It was not easy to leave out http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 – Cricket News Update
Australia’s captain, Michael Clarke, has admitted that the decision to leave out Brad Haddin from the squad for the first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 was not an easy one and made it clear that the step was taken in the best interest of
the team.
The first Test of the three-match starts this Friday at Brisbane and is considered to be one of the most important battles of the current season, which will also decide the world’s number one ranked Test team.
Haddin has been Australia’s first-choice wicketkeeper since the retirement of the legendary, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 earlier this
year, with his daughter being diagnosed for cancer.
In the experienced cricketer’s absence, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933 was given the responsibility behind the stumps, who did not disappoint, scoring a match-winning hundred in the third Test at Dominica. As a result, the 24-year-old Tasmanian has been
able to retain his place in the side for the upcoming Test match at Brisbane.
While talking to Fox Sports, Clarke admitted that Haddin is a class player and dropping him was a very difficult decision.
“It's going to be tough because he's such a good player but unfortunately we can only have one wicketkeeper. As captain, no decision I make as a selector will ever be personal.”
Since becoming Australia’s captain, the 31-year-old cricketer feels that winning matches for the Kangaroos gives him more pleasure than his personal performances. He quoted the two-Test series against South Africa last year, where he could not contribute
much in the Johannesburg Test but is happy that his side ended up winning the match and squaring the series.
“Ricky told me when I took over the captaincy, he said you'll see the team have success and that'll give you as much if not more joy than your own performance, and that is 100% true,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 said while talking to ESPNcricinfo. “Jo'burg is a great example,
I didn't score many runs in that game, but the fact that we still won, I enjoyed that a lot more than making 150 in Cape Town.”
