Is a free video of Vale #46 explaining about his Misano let down.

Can anyone please translate the bulk of what he is saying please?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

( PS my Italian stops at ordering a beer in a bar ! )

  1. and also my english skill stops at the bar...

but I want to try to translate something, just to train myself...

    valentino said something like:

with the new engine we were quite fast here in misano, but breaking at the third lap is disappointing.

I'm sad because many supporters came here and a podium would be a good result.

I said "podium" because now we cannot win. I'm not slow, but our current technical conditions don't allow me to win a race..

we must work... we are working but it's not enough... yamaha and michelin must work more and more.

moreover, current tyres scenario isn't good for anyone... only ducati likes it..

I think that now the championship is finished..

there's no doubt that stoner and ducati and bridgestone worked fine and they deserve the title.

    personal note:

the current misano track has no straights (because now is a clockwise circut. do you know misano?) and the top speed of motogp is similar to 250 or superbike speed (about 150 mph)...

the new engine was not essential on this kind of track...

trying the new pneumatic spring system has been a very BIG mistake...

    about misano:

until 2006 misano has been an anticlockwise track. after the two CURVE DEL CARRO "cart curves" (on the left, very slow) there was a little straight and then two left bends linked by a little straight. this was the CURVONE "big curve", a very very fast bend (4th gear) that shoots the riders on the longest straight of the circuit (superbikes speed record was about 180mph). after that bikes must brake hard to make another left hairpin (CURVA DEL TRAMONTO "sunset curve").

in 2007, for safety reasons (?), motogp riders ask to ride in clockwise direction...

results: after the "sunset curve" (right) the straight is not very long and the bikes get only 150mph with no heavy braking and no chance of overtaking...

    curiosity about misano:

the lap record (race) was signed in 1998 by aaron slight (1'34.665) on a honda RC45 750!

despite 8 years of improvements, no-one has been able to beat this time with 1000cc bikes!!

    PS

    oh my God...

I don't know how many mistakes I could have made... O__O

  2. Hey Wiggy ;))

I think you should try to post this question in another section: Society & Culture and then Languages... I'm also interested to understand what he is saying :))

    Good question ;}

I've found this video and I wish it's the one you mean (yr link didn't allow me its opening).

In short Valentino is explaining that his Yamaha was not so bad (he was expecting to speed up in the next few laps) but suddenly the motor has seized up.

He says that's not a good period for him but this has nothing to do with his personal problems (taxes...!); he can't know why he feels to be as fast as in the past but things are not running in the proper way. It was very important for him to get points and the podium in Misano, in front of his Italian fans, but he has ben unable to achieve this.

He also says that the Championship for him is practically decided (he should run alone to get all the necessary points to win it again...!!). The technical condition of Yamaha compared with Ducati and even Suzuki is not at all favourable and Yamaha must do something and cover this gap.

They've already started working in this direction and at Misano they've used the new motor in order to go on with the growth already started in Brno (there it didn't show problems) but it didn't work.

Before starting he had good sensations and a nice energy, but breaking the motor at the third lap has been for him very frustrating.

Also the tyres are not liking anybody (aside Ducati's team) and he hopes there will be also for this some changes in the next year.

He adds that Ducati and Stoner have deserved the title since, together with Bridgestone, have made a good job.

At the end he says that he feels to be still able to drive as speedy as in the past but his bike is not supporting him. This fact is for him intolerable and at Yamaha they will need "shaking their butts" since this trend must be stopped soonest.

  4. Hey wiggy

That was nice of them wasn't it!

Doesn't sound  like the riders will be looking forward to next years race - with what Duke 740 said!
