http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan travelled to the Stadio Angelo Massimino to take on Catania in what was a must win for the current reigning champions of Italy.
The line-ups for the game were as follows: Catania: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Simone-Pesce-c33593, Maxi Lopez
Internazionale: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Milito-c11166
The match kicked off, with nether team really looking to go at it initially. However there were early unexpected scares for both the sides as both Lucio and Maxi Lopez went down clutching themselves, after some rather harsh tackles.
However the-almost-injuries were as interesting as the first half got, since neither one of the two teams managed to find the back of the net, or even came close to testing either keepers.
The second half picked up in almost exactly the same manner with which the first had ended.
The closest that anyone came to picking up a goal was in the first half, was when Maxi Lopez flew the ball from nearly twenty five yards out in the 59th minute but his shot bounced off the woodwork to safety.
However on the 70th minute, the home-side finally broke the deadlock.
After Maxi Lopez tested the Inter keeper twice, the ball fell kindly to Alejandro Gomez, who had the simple task of striking the ball into an empty net.
The goal from Catania, seemed to spur Inter on, as four minutes later they got the equalizing goal.
Cambiasso received the ball some twelve yards from the home team's goal and ripped a strike at goal. His shot was timed and placed to perfection as it beat Andujar, who had very little if no chance at stopping the effort.
Four minutes later Inter went on to score their third goal of the game, which also happened to be Cambiasso's second. Maicon got down on the left hand side of the pitch, whipping in a deadly cross. Cambiasso managed to rise the highest and saw his header
crash into the back of the net. As a result Inter picked up the crucial three points, very late into the game.
