Italian Serie A – Inter Milan vs. Parma: Stankovic’s hat-trick helps as Parma to bed (Part 1)
Parma travelled to the San Siro to take on Inter Milan, the current reigning champions of Italy and Europe. However things just weren't going Nerazzurri’s way so far this season and Parma were looking to use that to their advantage in
the game.
Rafael Benitez on the other hand was determined to get Inter back on track so that he could secure his stay at Inter and avoid being terminated.
The match kicked off with Parma looking to go at it from the very first minute after the kick off and as a result it wasn't long before that they took the lead. Crespo the former AC Milan and Chelsea man was the player on target for the
visitors. Angelo whipped in a cross as Crespo stalked the near post to lift the ball over the rushing Castellazzi. As a result of his sublime work the forward scored the hundredth and ninetieth goal of his career.
However Inter weren't planning on letting Parma walk all over them therefore aggression to win the match was seen in the Inter team and especially Dejan Stankovic. The player seemed to be in top form and he used that to his favour as he
got the equalizing goal for the home side on the seventeenth minute. Stankovic whipped in a shot from twenty five yards out and his shot took a giant deflection before going into the goal to give the home side the goal.
However Stankovic wasn't quite done just yet. Sixty seconds later he was back at it. Biabiany charged down the Parma box before squaring the ball to the midfielder. Stankovic then took another shot towards goal and astonishingly the ball
took another hefty deflection before finally resting in the back of the net.
Four minutes later it was all Inter again. On the twenty second minute Wesley Sneijder whipped in a terrific corner which was flicked on by Lucio towards Cambiasso, who for some odd reason was left unmarked at the far post. The defensive
midfielder then had the simplest of tasks to tuck the ball into the back of the exposed goal to give Inter the three goals to one lead.
However Crespo decide that he needed to make the game more interesting once again. On the thirty fifth minute the all time leading goal scorer for Parma got the ball some twenty yards out and the striker shot the ball first time low into
the bottom left corner and the game was back on. With the score line reading three goals to two.
There were no more goals in the first half, but as both the teams walked of the pitch for the break, the crowd was on their feet as they were witnessing one of the best games of the season so far.
