Italian Serie A – Match Review: Lazio versus Napoli (Part 2)
Hernanes, Zarate and Floccari combined in the 63rd minute to give Lazio a two goal lead. Hernanes played in Zarate who then found Floccari inside the Napoli penalty area. The striker was in acres of space as he calmly side footed
the ball into the back of the net as Lazio gained a two goal advantage on the visitors. In the 67thminute of the match, Cavani tired his luck on goal with a wonderful curler but the former Barcelona man failed to hit the target with his s**t. In
the 69th minute, it was Zarate yet again who troubled Napoli’s defence as the striker fired off a quick shot which failed to hit the target.
Lazio maintained control of the match for most part of the second half, especially after they took the lead. It was a difficult job for Napoli to resist the constant Lazio attacks as the Romans were determined to build on their two goal
advantage. Sosa came on for Napoli in place of Grava and he almost had an immediate impact on the match as in the 73rd minute, Napoli came out of the blocks and Sosa tried his luck on goal. However, Sosa’s shot was off the target as
Lazio kept their two goal lead intact. The 76th minute saw Bresciano get his header off for Lazio towards the Napoli goal. Napoli’s goalkeeper was at hand to tip the ball away as Lazio’s substitute almost pulled one back after connecting
accurately with the cross.
In the 78th minute, Lazio almost tripled their lead as Zarate led a quick Roman counter attack. The striker played in his partner Floccari whose powerful shot thudded against the post as Napoli’s defence was caught
unawares yet again. In the 86th minute, Muslera, the Lazio goalkeeper spilled a long range effort as the ball fell to Cavani. However, the Uruguayan midfielder failed to keep his shot down as the ball flew over the cross bar. It was
a good chance for the visitors to pull one goal back. In the 88th minute, Napoli attacked yet again and this time Cavani’s shot was safely gathered by Muslera in goal for Lazio. In the 89th minute, Sosa was shown
a yellow card by the referee as Stefan Radu was chopped down by the Napoli player.
Lazio eventually ended the match as winners by two goals to nil. It was a convincing win for the home side who lost their last league match against Roma by two goals. Napoli on the other hand were abysmal as they failed to take their chances
and also were quite woeful when it came to keeping control of the ball.
