Italian Serie A: Samuel Eto's and Lucio score as Inter record first home win of the season
Goals from Samuel Eto and Lucio gave Rafael Benitez and Inter Milan their first win of the season as the team went on to beat Udinese by a score line of two goals to one at the San Siro.
Inter Milan took the lead after defender, Lucio opened the scoring on the night. However soon after the opening goal, Antonio Floro Flores scored for Udinese to draw the teams level, in a more than entertaining first half.
There were very little changes in the second half of play. Both the sides looked to create numerous chances however neither team could finish of the chances that were being created. It wasn't late in the second half when Samuel Eto'o scored to give the home side the lead. The striker missed his initial penalty but managed to bundle in the re bound, to give the team the much deserved lead.
The team's first goal was scored in almost a similar fashion which screamed desperation. After a poorly taken corner the ball deflected into the path of Wesley Sneijder, whose delivery was slapped around by the Udinese keeper, fell mercifully in the path of Lucio who didn't think twice before blasting the ball into the back of the net.
Udinese however didn't get the result that they deserved. The team is one of the best prospects in the Italian Serie A, however two losses from the teams opening two games suggest that, the team might be suffering from a bad case of being unlucky.
Inter could have scored a third goal to add insult to injury. Diego Milito could have scored for the home side late on in the second half, however the forward managed to miss his shot completely. Eto'o also went close after he unleashed a thunder bolt from twenty yards out. The ball however managed to come back of the wood work.
The referee however managed to add six minuted of injury time to the game. Both the teams were left baffled by the referee's decision, but there wasn't much that they could have done about it. It was also baffling since, the only time that was actually wasted in the game was when Lucio was struck in the face, from a free kick and had to be tended to.
Once the game concluded Inter were sitting pretty on top of the Italian Serie A table. This was because of the fact that their arch rivals AC Milan managed to loose to Cesena on the night
