Italian Serie A player ratings: AC Milan 0 – 1 AS Roma (Part 1)
AC Milan and AS Roma went head-to-head tonight in what was billed as the clash of the titans. Prior to the game, many expected the match to be one enthralling affair but the game itself was rather a letdown with clear-cut chances being a rare sight. Despite
AC Milan dominating possession and attacking play, Gilarossi managed to steal the three points thanks to Marco Borriello’s goal in the second half.
Bettor.com now rates the players who took to the pitch tonight:
AC Milan
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-c9491 Abbiati – 6
The Rossoneri goalkeeper was hardly tested – AS Roma had only two shots on target for the entire 90 minutes - and could not be blamed for the goal as he was let down by his defence.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ignazio-Abate-c16673 - 5
The youngster has shown tremendous improvement this season and the pattern continued. Even though Abate was caught out of position on multiple times, he coped well with the pace of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345 and was solid moving forward. However, his failure to clear
the ball cost Milan the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Nesta-c4735 – 7.5
The legend was song tonight and not for the first time this season. Nesta made countless interceptions during the game and was his usual classy self in tackle – extremely unlucky to be on the losing side.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-Bonera-c10109 – 5.5
The much maligned defender was steady at the back for much of the game but was unable to cope with the physical play of Borriello and Adriano. Also, his task was made easier by the fact that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 did little to trouble the Rossoneri rearguard.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luca-Antonini-c22503 – 5.5
While Antonini was never known for his defending abilities, even his attacking instincts were severely lacking on the night. Even when he did venture forward, he picked the wrong pass more often than not. On this performance, he isn’t any way close to getting
regular first team football.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gennaro-Gattuso-c14525 – 6.5
The terrier bull dog of a midfielder played with his heart on his sleeve; made countless tackles and ran himself to the ground. Gattuso looked rejuvenated for much of the game as he disposed a faster and younger Menez on multiple times.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Massimo-Ambrosini-c24579 – 5
Ambrosini is the current AC Milan captain but it wasn’t a captain’s performance by any stretch of imagination. Sloppy in tackle, wasteful in possession and lacking in energy, the performance was one to forget.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrea-Pirlo-c5702 – 7
The midfield maestro was on the pitch for just 10 minutes and was the best player on the pitch till then. Pirlo created two excellent chances during his stay before an injury cut his night short.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Prince-Boateng-c20792 – 6
Prince was unable to replicate his recent run of form as he saw his space severely limited by the presence of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112 in the opposition third. However, Prince did create some excellent opportunities for his strikers which were duly wasted.
Robinho – 5
The Brazilian had a disappointing outing as he was on peripheries of action for much of the evening. Robinho was presented with an excellent opportunity in the third minute but he failed to hit the target and was hardly any influence on the game for the
rest of the minutes.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 – 5.5
Much was expected of the lanky Swede prior to the game but he only managed to disappoint. Ibra was presented with two glorious opportunities as he was played in with only the keeper to beat on both the occasions but his finishing lacked a lot to be desired
on both the occasions.
Substitutes:
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Clarence-Seedorf-c9275 – 4
The legendary Dutchman is clearly on a steep decline and had one of his notorious off days Roma. Seedorf replaced Pirlo in the 10th minute but failed to hit any meaningful passes for the time he was on the pitch. Pirlo did more in that 10 minute
cameo then what Seedorf managed in the remaining 80 minutes.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldinho-c31733 – 5.5
Massimiliano Allegri has been horrible with his substitution with AC Milan and the pattern continued. Ronnie was brought on in the 86th minute and clearly, he had no time to make an impact.
