Italian Serie A player ratings: AC Milan 0 – 1 AS Roma (Part 2)
AS Roma
Doni – 7
The Brazilian custodian would have been expecting a busier outing but a lacklustre Milan frontline made the task all the more easier for Doni. Hoever, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Doni-c11553 did make a good save on Ibrahimovic when the Swede was sent through on goal in the first half.
Nicolas Burdisso - 6
Burdisso was forced to play out-of-position because of Cassetti’s injury but the Argentine put in an impressive shift. While he did little going forward, he was steady as a rock in defence as the likes of Robinho and Seedorf found out.
Juan – 7.5
Juan was in exceptional form on the night and had Ibrahimovic under check for much of the night. The Brazilian used off-side traps to perfection and was his elegant self on the ball.
Philippe Mexes – 6.5
The French defender has rediscovered his best form this season following some years of mediocrity and tonight was no different. While he was beaten a couple of times in the first half, Mexes was a beast in the second half as Rossoneri found little dividends
out of the Juan-Mexes duo.
John-Arne Riise - 6
Riise was not his usual attacking self tonight as his forays forward went missing. However, much like his fellow defenders, he was solid in defence and was hardly beaten by any AC Milan player.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Simplicio – 6.5
Summer arrival from Palermo found life hard in the early goings with Roma but has settled down well with Gilarossi as his performance on the night showed. Simplicio got the better of Ambrosini on multiple occasions and was a vital cog in the Lupi midfield.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112 – 7.5
Il Capitano Futuro was the real un-sung hero for Gilarossi tonight. Daniele had to curb his attacking appetite on the night as he was stationed firmly in front of his back four. The likes of Robinho and Kevin-Prince were given no space in the final third
and De Rossi had a huge part to play in that.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Matteo-Brighi-c24784 – 6
Brighi had a steady yet unspectacular outing where he did all the little things right to keep Gilarossi ticking in the centre of the park.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345 – 6.5
The mercurial Frenchman had an extremely frustrating evening as he found life extremely difficult in the first half. Menez was double marked for much of the game and that severely limited his impact. However, Menez never stopped running and ultimately found
the reward when he delivered the cross for Borriello’s goal.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Borriello-c23672 – 7
On-loan striker from AC Milan came back to haunt his former employers and was jeered off the pitch. However, Borriello deserved his goal for he had to toil hard against an imperious Nesta for much of the game.
Adriano – 6
The Brazilian has been blasted by media and fans alike for much of the season but tonight, he was a positive influence on the game. Adriano held the ball superbly and drew foul after foul particularly in the second half when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 needed more time on the
ball.
Substitutes:
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rodrigo-Taddei-c31490 – 5.5
Taddei replaced the tiring Menez late in the second half but was unable to make a telling contribution.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleandro-Rosi-c4378 – 5
Rosi was introduced late in the game as a time wasting tactic and had no time to make an impact.
Okaka Chuka – 5
A two minute cameo from the youngster.
