AC Milan
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Abbiati-c9046 – 5
Abbiati has been one of the best keepers in peninsula this season, but tonight was a disaster. Rossoneri custodian gifted Nene a goal scoring opportunity. Luckily for Milan, it wasn’t taken.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ignazio-Abate-c16673 – 5.5
While his offensive prowess was on show tonight, Abate really lacks the defensive nous to become a quality right back. The wing back is clearly not AC Milan quality, not in the defence at least.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903 – 7.5
The Brazilian is on a perpetual improvement curve despite already being world class. Tonight, Silva had Matri jingling in his back pocket for majority of the game. Better still, Rossoneri stalwart found time to build attacks from the back – best defender
in the world?
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-Bonera-c10109 – 6
Bonera was filling in for the injured Nesta and had an easy outing, much to the delight of Massimiliano Allegri; Bonera is a disaster waiting to happen.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luca-Antonini-c22503 – 6
Antonini is clearly focusing on his defensive duties nowadays. Tonight was evidence of that. The 28-year old rarely ventured forward. Good thing too as he leaves ozone holes whenever he ventures forward.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gennaro-Gattuso-c14525 – 5.5
Gattuso always plays with his heart on his sleeve but his legs are clearly not up to the task. Ringinho doesn’t have the legs to play the entire 90 minutes and was substituted in the second half.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Clarence-Seedorf-c9275 – 5
The Dutch legend is clearly past his peak; his AC Milan days are numbered, surely. Rossoneri faithful have nicknamed him ‘Slowdorf’, and for good reason too. His passing, running and tackling – just everything – left a lot to be desired.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Massimo-Ambrosini-c24579 – 6
It was an energetic display from the skipper albeit one that lacked real quality. While he completed his defensive duties with aplomb, his attacking contribution was lacking on the night.
Alexandre Merkel – 7
It was refreshing to see AC Milan give an opportunity to a youngster. The 18-year old debutant gave a good account of himself as he looked to dictate the tempo for his team. Merkel linked up well with his teammates and he will only get better with time.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-Pato-c4901 – 5
The mercurial Brazilian was understandably rusty on the night upon his return from injury. Pato’s touch was uncharacteristically heavy as he lost the ball all too easily in the first half. Even though the second half was an improvement, the Brazilian is
some way from reaching peak fitness.
Robinho – 6
Robinho has been one of the best Rossoneri players in recent weeks but tonight just wasn’t his day. Former Real Madrid forward missed Ibrahimovic’s influence upfront in what was a frustrating night.
Substitutes:
Rodney Strasser – 7
Allegri’s faith in the youth paid off. Strasser came off the bench to win the game for the Rossoneri. One can certainly hope his 85th minute winner will win the midfielder more playing time in the future.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302 – 7
Say what you wish about this kid, but the boy is a match winner. On his Rossoneri debut, Cassano assisted the opener with one of his trademark through balls. With Il Talentino di Bari donning the Rossoneri jersey, Milan are firm title favourites now.
