Italian Serie A preview: AC Milan – Brescia Calcio
Rossoneri looking to extend the lead
AC Milan are in red hot form at the moment as Rossoneri lead the Serie A charts while Massimiliano Allegri’s side have also qualified for Champions League round of sixteen with a game to spare.
As things stand, Davioli sit atop the Calcio charts with 30 points from the opening 14 games. Rossoneri have equal points with a resurgent SS Lazio outfit but they still lead the rankings owing much to a superior goal difference. Davioli will be presented
with an ideal opportunity to extend their lead at the top tonight.
Rossoneri have made San Siro a fortress this season with 16 points accumulated from a possible 21. However, Allegri should warn the men in red and black against complacency for Brescia have shocked the likes of Palermo and Roma.
Should Rossoneri maintain the playing standards expectant fans have become used to enjoy, there is no reason why Davioli shouldn’t be able bag the three points.
Relegation worries for Azzurri
The newly promoted side were always expected to fight for survival but Roberto Baggio’s childhood team upset European contenders AS Roma and US Palermo. However, those victories proved a false dawn for Brescia have been struggling ever since.
With just 12 points gathered from opening 14 matches, Giuseppe Iachini’s side are 17th in the league and a defeat tonight will surely condemn the Biancoazzurri to the bottom three in the league.
There is little room for optimism as Brescia haven’t registered a victory in Serie A since late September. However, should Iachini’s men manage to win on the night, it will be a huge confidence boost for the minnows and the three unexpected points will be
a huge bonus
Team News
AC Milan
Allegri is still without the services of Alexandre Pato for this tie while Pippo Inzaghi’s season has been cut short with an injury. Youngster Odumadi has now joined the two stars on treatment tables. There is also good news for the Rossoneri manager as
Andrea Pirlo is expected to make the squad after recovering from an injury.
Allegri will start the match with a 4-3-1-2 formation with Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line while Clarence Seedorf will play the trequartista role.
Brescia Calcio
Brescia tactician will be delighted to have a clean bill of health as he will have the luxury of having the entire squad at his disposal. Iachini’s men will take to the field in a 3-4-2-1 formation with Caracciolo leading the line with Diamanti and Kone
plaing just behind the lone striker.
Key Players
Robinho
The Brazilian found life hard at San Siro in the early going but has slowly discovered his feet. The pacy Brazilian adds a whole new dimension to a usually static Milan offence. Should Robinho have one of his better days, expect him to be on the score sheet.
Alessandro Diamanti
Much was expected of the talented Italian upon his arrival but the former West Ham forward has only performed in patches. Diamanti has the ability to pick the most difficult of passes on his day and Milan defence will need to be on their toes at all times.
Prediction
The gulf of class between these two sides is simply too much to be filled with sheer hard work. Rossoneri will make light work of the relegation strugglers and will emerge victorious with a 3 – 1 score line.
