Italian Serie A preview: Brescia Calcio – Juventus FC
Brescia looking to upset the giants
Roberto Baggio’s old club managed to hold Inter to a 1 – 1 draw on the weekend at San Siro and confidence would be high going into this game. The Biancoazzurri were superb in both attack and defence and a similar inspired performance tonight
just might earn them the three points.
Brescia rank 17th in the league after ten rounds of football, just 2 points above the relegation zone and a defeat will condemn the club into the dreaded bottom three. Giussepe Lachini’s men will have to give it
their all if the side is to survive the rigours of primary Italian league.
Serie A competitiveness is a well documented fact by now and as much as eight teams are expected to fight it out for survival. To their credit however, Biancoazzurri have been training hard behind closed doors to get maximum points from
this game.
Bianconeri revival continues
With Juve struggling for form and numerous key players struggling with injuries, people were quick in writing off Turin giants from the Scudetto race. Luigi Del Neri’s men have made the most of their opponent’s complacency and rank fourth
in the league, just four points off the summit.
Bianconeri defeated Cesena 3 – 1 in Turin on the weekend to climb up to the fourth and last Champions league spot. With most of the usual title challengers struggling for consistency or injuries (Inter Milan), Bianconeri have the chance
of raking up bonus points and one shouldn’t be surprised should Juve land themselves a Scudetto come the end of season.
However, Del Neri’s men must not get ahead of themselves with wishful thinking. Bianconeri are a ‘Work-in-progress’ and need to take one step at a time. The road is long and arduous and Del Neri’s focus must be entirely on tonight’s game.
Team News
Brescia Calcio
Giuseppe Lachini will be without the services of Victor Hugo Mareco and Matteo Sereni for this game as the duo is out injured. Lachini has indicated that his troops will look to crowd the midfield thus a 4-3-2-1 formation is likely to
be deployed.
Juventus FC
Luigi Del Neri also has a lengthy injury list to worry about. Felipe Melo, Gianlugi Buffon, Milos Krasic, Legrottaglie, Rinaudo, Zdenak Grygera, Paolo De Ceglie, Javi Martinez, Armand Traore, Alexander Manninger and Amauri are all out
injured.
Key Players
Alessandro Del Piero
The Bianconeri legend is turning back the years with performances of the highest quality. With a host of first team players out injured, the skipper has taken it on himself to pull Juventus clear of misery. A true legend and an inspirational
Captain!
Andrea Caracciolo
The Biancoazzurri striker had an excellent game against Inter Milan and Luchini will want his star player to repeat the trick. Caracciolo has done well so far in the league and he will be Bresica’s main source of inspiration.
Prediction
With Bresica looking to smother the Juve midfield, it will be a cagy affair with little chances being created. However, Juve’s quality will prevail towards the end. Del Neri’s men to edge out their opponents with a 1 – 0 victory!
