Question:

Italian Sweet Dessert -- Help!?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I was in Italy - and it was on a school trip - and most meals were mapped out for us. We had an after dinner treat in Florence -- it was a layered cake of sorts that was similar to icecream -- but it was quite a dry pastry -- and it was also frozen. It was NOT tirimisu.

Any ideas?

  1. I don't know about your dessert.. but I do know the pain of eating something amazing in Europe and then never being able to find it or reproduce it back home.  sigh...  Well good luck.  Hope you find your answer.

  2. Could it be Cassarta Siciliano?...did it have little angelica bits in it? kinda green & red.

  3. Do you at least remember the name of the restaurant or where you ate this amazing creation? Because if you did, it would be simply a matter of calling and requesting the desert menu.

    Try to remember.

  4. Omelette Norvégienne

  5. I found these two Italian dessert recipes at www.allrecipes.com:

    1. Pasticiotti, which is a pastry filled with pudding

    2. Biscuit Tortoni, which is a vanilla ice cream based dessert

I don't know if they are exactly what you are searching for, but it would be fun to make them... and delicious I'm sure.
