Italian Tom expected to win Freebets Handicap
Italian Tom is keen to adorn his portfolio with the title of Freebets Handicap, a high-stakes Class 4 contest that will take place at Windsor racecourse on Monday, June 18. The high-profile event is set to start at 7:40 (GMT).
The Ronald Harris-trained bay horse is going to run again under Darren Edward Egan who was responsible for his two epic triumphs during the last month.
The five-year-old maverick sprinter accomplished two back-to-back victories on May 12 and 19. On the first occasion, he ran against 11 rivals to finish first in the Alfred Franks & Bartlett Sunglasses Handicap at Ascot track.
In the second event, the experienced gelding wrested the Robinsonsofbawtry.Com Handicap title that went down at Doncaster. This time, he faced 17 competitors.
Following these two classic conquests, the son of Le Vie Dei Colori out of Brave Cat finished 4th in his last outing on June 7. As a whole, he has won 11 of his total 51 starts to date.
Capitalising on the form produced by his recent feats, the brilliant horse will unleash a winning performance against 9 strong rivals such as Soap Wars, Caldercruix, Ganas, Kingsdine, We Have A Dream, Paradise Spectre, Jack My Boy, Kings’ n Dreams and Cocohatchee.
Though the stage is quite set for Italian Tom’s success and all the things are going to his favour, but he will have to face a lot of resistance from Cocohatchee on his way towards the finish line.
The Pat Phelan-trained bay gelding has been enjoying good form since the dawn of the calendar year. After getting a 3rd on May 7, he elegantly finished as a runner-up on May 17.
Under Jake Payne, the veteran horse marvellously grabbed a grand victory in his last start on June 12. At the moment, he is awash with fighting spirit that will help him give tough time to Italian Tom.
