Italian Trentino looking to stretch its supremacy in Pool C – Volleyball Europe
Italian men’s club team Trentino PlanetWin365 is set to open the third leg of 2012 CEV Volleyball Championship prelims on Wednesday, December 14. The three-time winner of the European Champions League, Trentino, will take on Poland’s Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle
at Palatrento Arena in Trento, Italy. The Italians have high hopes to do well in front of the home audience and become the provisional lead of Pool C. This is going to be the second home appearance of Trentino during the European campaign, this year. Hence,
the prospects are high that they will have an outstanding performance.
Trentino
Trentino is regarded as the three time winner of CEV Volleyball Champions League and the FIVB Club World Championship. In the previous rounds of the campaign, they played two matches and dominated their competitors. In October, they bagged the first win
of the preliminary round against Spanish team Cai Teruel. Trentino served as the host of match and totally benefitted from the home advantage by posting 3-0 win over Cai Terul
Next up, the winning squad travelled all the way to Beograd, Serbia, and defeated the hosts with identical score of 3-0. On account of winning two matches in straight sets, Trentino bagged six points.
Zaksa
On the other hand, the Polish team has a similar record in the previous round of action. They grabbed success against Partizan Termoelektro in the first leg of the tournament and added second win to their tally by beating Cai Teruel. Zaksa finished both
matches with 3-1 ratio and earned six points.
Trentino vs. Zaksa
Now here is the trial for both teams in the next match. The upcoming game will determine the better side. Being the host of the match, Trentino will definitely have an edge in the competition. Moreover, the Italians are enjoying a great form and they have
performed well in domestic competitions, lately. They are ranked 1st in the national league and seem pretty confident about their next match against Zaksa. Italian middle blocker Emanuele Birarelli and libero Andrea Bari plus setter Lukasz Zygadlo
have also returned to the club after playing at the FIVB World Cup. Considering all these factors, Trentino is very much in a position to put a scare into Zaksa.
However, the head coach of Italian side, Radostin Stoytchev, expressed his concern about the match in following manner: “We want to finish first to get a good draw for the Playoffs 12. Zaksa is a strong team and not coincidentally last year they played the
final of the CEV Cup. They have very talented and experienced players, so we have to stay focused to get a good result. We shall try to exploit the home advantage and then travel more relaxed to Poland when it comes to the return match next week.”
The Poles are also aware of the potential risks in the next match. They will have to fight the double challenge of team and audience in the match. They can make a difference only if they perform extra-ordinary well in the match. Now the world has to wait
and see till tomorrow to witness the victorious team. Check back for latest results.
