My cousin passed away 2 weeks ago and her 18mth old son is currently being cared for by a nanny. His father asked if we could adopt him but we have absolutly no clue where to start. We live in Texas and would love to adopt him. Do you have any advice for us like...

*websites to visit?

*recent experience with adopting from Italy?

*adoption checklist?

*what sort of red tape will we run into?

*what could help expedite the adoption?

*etc. -any info that could help...?

  1. Arrangements would have been made in your cousin's last will and testament to provide for the child.

You could always move to Italy.

  2. I would just go to an attorney in your area that is known for handling International Adoptions. Call around to firms to get recommendations. I wouldn't rely on an agency. Check to make sure the nanny isn't trying to adopt the baby. I'm not sure what the laws are in Italy, she may be able to petition so I would get on it.

  3. you need a licensed adoption agency in your area to handle any kind of adoption. google adoption agency texas.
