Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti hints at Chelsea exit
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti said he was pleased by the show of support by the fans and players after speculation that he would be sacked after the end of the season.
Many supporters have spoken out against the possible decision of the club owner Roman Abramovich to sack the Italian manager after the unsuccessful campaign.
A lot of the senior players have also claimed they do not think Ancelotti deserves to be shown the door just because of one disappointing season.
Ancelotti revealed he was touched by everyone’s support for him, he said, “For me, it's fantastic. To think they appreciate my job and are close to me, continue to say this, it's a good step and aim that I was able to reach in this year.”
After winning the domestic double, English Premier League and FA Cup, in his first season at the London club, Ancelotti looks to be ending his second season without any silverware.
That has led to countless rumors suggesting that Abramovich is considering replacing the former AC Milan boss.
So far former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 boss Pep Guardiola and FC Porto’s young manager Andre Villas Boas are also apparently being considered.
However, Ancelotti has remained calm throughout the tough period and has expressed his desire to remain at the London club next season.
At the same time though he has hinted he could be making a move away at the end of the campaign, claiming the decision was not up to him.
The Italian manager said he was confident his players could manage well without him, if he did leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
He continued, “I think that I have a very good relationship with the players. But I don't think it would be a problem for next season if I'm not here. I hope, obviously, to stay here. But there may be another coach and they'll have the same relationship.”
According to Ancelotti the players at Chelsea were professionals, who would do well under whichever manager took over in case of his departure.
The Italian manager said he was proud of his squad, he said, “We're speaking about very professional players, players with a lot of experience. Every coach who was here in the past had a good relationship with the players. They gave, all the time, their
best.”
