Hi guys, I'm a 18 yrs old italian boy who's thinkin' of going to Canada next fall, after school's final exams and 2 more months of work experience in a restaurant as a waiter.

Then..I have the opportunity to work at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver, and I don't want to lose this opportunity...I'm reading and still searching infos about Canada, your laws, your climate, general infos and so on....I've also a penpal who lives in Guelph ON.

I'm seriously interested in knowing what difficulties I could meet when I'll be there..I knwo that Van is one of the best cities in the world for quality of life and many other parameters...

but, you know, sometimes I think I'm too uninformated ab your wonderful country,,,

I'll go there to perfectioning my english too, then I feel sorry if I wrote something wrongly....

greetings from Italy!!!

Gabriele

  2. Hi Gabriele,

I think it is great that you are trying hard to get an idea of how Canada may be.

An opportunity to work at the Fairmont is a wonderful beginning as the Fairmont is part of a bigger chain that has luxury hotels in other cities and provinces.

Do not worry so much about saying things wrong as you learn English just learn to laugh with folks but learn as you go.Everyone makes mistakes in grammar, even us.

As for difficulties I think that housing could be difficult to find,as I am sure you know Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Olympics and this has made housing more expensive and harder to get.

Good luck with your final exams and I hope your experience in Canada is all you hope for.

  3. Be very careful about paperwork for working in Canada. Sometimes it takes a while to do.
