  1. As Brownhairgreeneyes said, there are many ways of communicating than land lines.  I pray you find him healthy and well, but once you do find him well - I would "kill" him for dissapearing and leaving you worried like that.

If you have tried calling and internet with no luck - call the embassy or the local police.  If you choose not to do that, then we can get even more creative... contact a business that is within walking distance to his home in Perugia.  Call the business owner and ask them to either leave a note on the door or have them ring the bell.  I don't know what else to say accept good luck and please report back as to his status.

  2. Ok firstly why doesnt HE call you. there are public phones all over Italy or he could have bought a SIM card for his mobile so that he would be using an italian network and it would be easier to contact him. If he was in Capri, which is hundreds of miles from Perugia he would have been able to use the internet or call you. As far as i know there are no problems with internet in Italy.

I dont mean to be rude but maybe he doesnt want you to contact him. We are living in 2008 and there are so many ways of contacting people, i find it hard to believe that he cant find a way of talking to you!

  3. This message sounds very strange to me, but just in case it is true here are the addresses of U.S. embassy in Italy you can contact :

    Sede dell' Ambasciata a Roma:

    Via Veneto, 119/A - 00187

    Tel. 06 / 46741 Fax: 06 / 46742356

    Sede del Consolato a Firenze:

    Via Lungarno Vespucci, 38 - 50123

    Tel. 055 / 266951 Fax: 055 / 284088

I suppose you know  the Italian telephone code is 0039.

  4. are you using the right country code (39)?

from the USA you need to dial 011 and then 39 and then his phone number

ps - his actual phone number should be 9 digits (unless its a cell phone) otherwise you've got a problem

not that it's really any of my business but how is it that in a month he hasn't tried to call you...?

I hate to be so blunt but I think there's only about a 5% chance that your husband isn't simply lying to you and avoiding you. I live in Bologna which is about 2 hours north of Perugia, and we've never had any internet problems. The issue of the line being cut in the Mediterranean affected the Middle East not Italy. My parents live in NY and I talk to them on the phone several times a week and never had any phone problems. I'm sorry but there's just no reason that he couldn't contact you over the course of an entire month. There are internet points all over the place as well as payphones, we're not in sub-Saharan Africa. All else fails, get on a plane and go find him.

  5. that's pretty weird.

  6. You have received two great answers

Calling from the USA, you must dial.....011 39 and the number

From a land line to a home land line

    You must dial

    011 39 075 and the number

    Ex. 011 39 075 840 532

To a cell phone from a land line

    You must dial.

O11 39 and the cell phone number.

    Ex. 011 39 348 546 2998

If you still cannot reach him contact the US Embassy  in Rome

The Embassy in Rome covers the Umbria region.

Here is the link and address and number.

    http://rome.usembassy.gov/english/

    Embassy of the United States

    via Vittorio Veneto, 119/A

    00187 Roma, Italy

    Tel. (+39) 06.4674.1 (switchboard)

    Fax (+39) 06.4674.2356

Additional information written  @ 11, 28 am PST

Why don't you write him a letter at the address you have for him. It may take a week or two to reach him., but it will get there. The Italian post is not the best.

Have you tried calling some of his friends in Perugia? Have tried calling your in-laws in Perugia?

Is your husband Italian or American?

Have to tried to text message him?  to do so... enter the number as such.. +39 and his cell phone number

Do you speak Italian?  Here is the police department's number in Perugia

    Tel. 075 50621

  7. Awwwww.....i wouldn't like to be u...i 'd die if i couldn't listen my bf's voice for sucha  along time!!!

    mmmh...pretty weird,btw.

try phoning from a public phone, add the 0039,then the prefix (is this how u call it?sorry not sure...) perugia 075 and the number

so it should be like 0039075 and the numbers he gave u....if it doesn't work....mmmh...except asking some1 from italy phoning there's not much else u can do....if it doesn't work and if u have faith in me u could give me the number and i could tell u if it does ring---> is existent, but there' not much more really to do....

oh no wait...there's one thing, just to chec it ....go here http://www.paginebianche.it/index.html go down the page, where it says

    "richerche speciali

conosci il numero ma non il nome" and there are red arrows...put there the number u have (with the 075!) it will tell u if it's existent -and if it is the owner's name...-

    let us know ;)
