I'm willing to bet that half of those saying Italian are actually talking about American.  Hint: If one of the main ingredients is Tomato, it's American.  Tomatoes are native to the Americas.

Sorry to be asking this, but what exactly to you mean by American food?

Everything I can think of that Americans claim as their cusine is from elsewhere, though I am perfectly willing to stand corrected.

variety is the spice of life. And spicy Italian food is great,. In Italian "Arrabbiata" means angry, which perfectly describes spicy tomato sauce with chili peppers - paired with Penne pasta. It's an Italian classic! I think I'll have that tonight.
